Scrappy Networking for Authors

The Pizza Party
It’s not necessarily a pizza party, but many conventions have events after the floor closes. These can be drink and draws, after hour panels, or big parties thrown by the organizers.

While it can be exhausting to go to these after a long day, they are a great place to get to know the people you sorta kinda work with in the con scene. If you can scrap together the energy after the show, definitely get out to the show sponsored events. And if there isn’t one, you can always throw together your own pizza party. Many of the people at shows will be from out of town, so it’s a good time to make new friends with folks trying to figure out the same stuff you are.

Scrappy Tip:
Keep an eye on any social media groups connected with the show. It’s a great way to find out if any of the other conventioneers are putting something together to grab a bite to eat or hang out and talk shop.
